What is Subasta Habana?

It is the Cuban entity that auctions works from both renowned Cuban masters and artists from yourger and emerging generations. Will include both the Online and the Oral Bid modalities.

Who are the current owners of the works that will be aucioned?

Owners are the authors, collectors and Cuban commercial galleries. You may verify this in the information on the works that appears in the site.

May U.S. citizens purchase works? How would payments be made?

Purchases at Subasta Habana, whether in the online or the oral bid modalities, are made according to the Cuban legislation and without infringing international regulations that rule both that practice and the electronic mail. The knocked down lot may be exported from the Cuban territory to the country determined by the buyer.

In the particular case of clients from the United States of America, it should be recalled that the purchase and sale of art is protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution of that country, whcih consecreates the right to free expression and the free exchange of ideas. In addition, the amendment to the Law on the Embargo approved in 1988 specifies that "publications, movies, posters, records, photographs, microfilms, microfiches, magnetophone tapes and other informational material" are exceptions to the Law on the Embargo.

May I use credit cards? Of what kind?

For payments in the Internet you may use VISA, MASTER CARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS, DISCOVERY. For any other pyments, please contact the organizers directly at info@subastahabana.com

When do I obtain the property of the work I buy?

Once we have received confirmation of payment of the sum committed by you, we will organize the remittance of the work with its corresponding invoice and certificate of authenticity, if there is one available. From that moment on you become the proprietor of the work.

How long will it take from the moment I pay for the work and the moment I receive it?

That will depend upon the place you wish to receive it. See packing and shipping section.

What options do I have for the transportation of the work until its final destination?

You may transport the work by your own means or coordinate with the organizers of Subasta Habana. See Transportation.

Who runs with the insurance of the works once I have bought them?

If you use the services of the Subasta Habana carrier, that enterprise will run with the insurance procedure. You will be previously informed of its cost. If you wish to engage this service, please confirm it. If you do not do so, we recomment that you verify this aspect with the transportation means you choose.

Is Cuba selling its artistic patrimony?

In no way. A very high percentage of the best of Cuban art may be appreciated by the visitors of the National Fine Arts Museum. Another no less considerable percentage is to be found in Cuban institutions, basically cultural ones.

The sale of the works auctioned here received the approval of the competent authorities, even if their final destination is not Cuba.
