1.- What is Subasta Habana?
It is the auction house for Cuban art. Since 2002 it presents works by the most prestigious national artists of all times.
SubastaHabana’s professional team also offers you three annual samples in its Virtual Gallery.
2.- How can I participate in the Oral Bid Auction? (*)
There are two froms of registration:
1.- Through our Web site, in the Oral Bid Auction in Private Bid.
2.- In Galería Habana, address: Línea No. 460 entre E y F, Vedado, La Habana, starting November 21 through November 27, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Saturday.
2.1- At the lobby of Hotel Nacional de Cuba, starting November 21 until the day of the Auction, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The cost of registration is 25.00 € and includes the auction catalogue, the identification as participant, the auction bat and the welcome cocktail.
Registration is personal and intransferable.
For reasons of privacy and security of the clients, Subasta Habana will reserve the right of admission to the Auction Hall.
3.- Is it possible to attend the Oral Bid Auction without having registered?
Only as a guest by courtesy of the Organizing Committee.
4.- Who are the current owners of the works to be auctioned?
The owners are the authors themselves, collectors and institutions.
5.- When and where will the Oral Bid Auction take place?
On November 28, at 6:00 pm at the Taganana Hall of Hotel Nacional de Cuba, address: Calle O esq. a 21, Vedado, La Habana.
6.- When and at what time may one see the works of the Oral Bid Auction?
The works may be seen starting November 19 until November 28, from 9:00 am through 5:00 pm at Galería Habana, address: calle Línea No. 460 e/ E y F, Vedado, La Habana.
Any private visit to see the works outside these hours may be previously arranged.
7.- How can I take part in Subasta Habana?
There are different forms:
1.a.- You may travel to Havana and attend the auction (see question No. 2)
1.b.- You may register someone who will bid on your behalf during the auction (having previously received your power of attorney)
2.- You may be represented, in which case you should adresss Private Bid or contact us, in order to be represented by Mr. Luis Miret Pérez, vice president of the Organizing Committee, who will be the director of the Auction Hall.
3.- Through a telephone call made by the Auction House. See Private Bid.
8.- May U.S. citizens purchase works? How would payment be made?
Purchases in Subasta Habana, whether in the Virtual Gallery or in the Oral Bid Auction, are made according to the Cuban legislation and without infringing the international norms that rule such practice and that of e-trade.The knocked-down lot may be exported from the Cuban territory to the country named by the buyer.
In the specific case of collectors from the United States of America, it should be recalled that the purchase and sale of art works is protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution of that country, that confirms the right to free expression and free exchange of ideas. In addition, the amendment to the Embargo Act approved in 1988 specifies that “publications, films, posters, records, photographs, microfilms, microfiches, recording tapes and other information materials” are exceptions to the Embargo Act.
9.- May we use credit cards? Which ones?
For payments in the Internet you may use VISA, MASTER CARD and AMERICAN EXPRESS. To use any other card you must contact the organizers directly at info@subastahabana.com To make payments using other ways you must present the card at the offices created with that purpose.
10.- What other forms of payment are accepted?
1.- In cash, for amounts less than or equal to 10 000.00 €.
2.- By bank transfer.
11.- How can I obtain the results of the auction?
The Results of each edition will appear in our Website and in the next Artprice catalogues.
12.- When do I obtain the property of the work I purchase?
Once the confirmation of the payment amount committed by you has been received, the remittance of the work will be organized, with the corresponding invoice and certificate of authenticity, if there is one. At that moment you obtain the ownership of the work.
The Auction House will coordinate the production of the required packaging.
13.- How long will it take from the moment I pay for the work and the moment I receive it?

14.- What options do I have for the transfer of the work to its final destination?
You may transport it on your own or coordinate with the organizers of Subasta Habana. See: Transportation.
15.- Who runs with the insurance of the works once I have purchased them?
If you use the shipper of Subasta Habana (Caribe Cargo S.A.), that company runs with the insurance procedure and you will be previously informed of the cost. If you wish to engage this service you must confirm it to the organizers of the Auction. If you do not, we recommend that you check this aspect with the way you choose.
16.- Are patrimonial works included?
Subasta Habana Auction House knocks down works obtained with the authorization of the competent authorities to be sold and purchased outside Cuba. A very high percentage of the best of Cuban art may be seen by any visitor of the National Museum of Fine Arts. A no less considerable percentage is to be found in different Cuban institutions.
